About RMBB

Originally a puppy raising group for the non-profit organization United States Veterans Service Dogs, Rocky Mountain Battle Buddies formed in June 2020 in Denver, Colorado, with our Colorado Springs group forming in 2021.

Both groups consist of puppy raisers and puppy sitters, who are instrumental in providing socialization and basic skills training for our pups from the ages of 8 weeks to about 14 to 15 months. Group meetings are held twice per month: one “classroom” meeting to teach commands and skills, and one public outing to practice those skills in a higher distraction environment. Puppy raisers are taught how to train their puppies with support and guidance from RMBB’s head trainer.

Once our dogs are completed with their socialization, training, and medical evaluations, they are offered to primarily two non-profit organizations for their program: K9s For Warriors and United States Veterans Service Dogs. Both are highly reputable service dog organizations that place highly trained service dogs with our US Veterans at no cost to the Veterans.

Our RMBB Colorado groups have been extremely successful, boasting an 88% graduation rate of puppies we’ve raised for United States Veterans Service Dogs and K9s for Warriors. This is because the group environment promotes consistency in commands/skills and expectations for our pups, while allowing them to experience many different handlers, households, and public environments. For this reason, we currently have a few very experienced puppy raisers who live in other states as our primary recruiting area is Colorado.

Linnea Edwards - Owner/Head Trainer

Linnea began her dog training journey as a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind back in
2015. She raised four dogs for GDB, three of which have been placed as service dogs. She
moved over to United States Veterans Service dogs in 2020 to work with a cause that was very
near and dear to her heart, as her significant other is a three-time combat veteran with the
United States Marine Corps. Linnea started both the Denver and Colorado Springs groups, and
runs the training sessions and group outings. She lives on a ranch in Fountain, Colorado with
horses, goats, dogs, and cats.
